i miss them
icon1 yeyen05 | icon2 Uncategorized | icon4 05 16th, 2009| icon3No Comments »

I really missed my old classmates now (BMLS 2B). I miss their loud voices, vulgar laughs and unending shouts. I miss Juffaly who dances and sings in front whenever there’s no teacher yet in the classroom. I miss Irene, Kurt and Emilio who talks to their friends as if they were 5 miles apart from each other. I miss Gemma who laughs like almost her muscles in cheeks would come out from her face. I miss Joma and Bubbles wearing their cute unpaired sneakers. I miss the silent girls (the group of Diane) staying at the corner of the room. I miss Myrj who always holds her mobile phone. I miss the sweet couple Karen and Makoy. I miss the witty Gian and loopy-eyed of Liza. I miss Ricca with her bulky bangs and her laptop. I miss Junel who never removes his headset from his head listening to music. I miss Harris - the genius guy. I miss the group of sexy girls like Kynneth, etc. I miss the tallest guy in class, Alvin. I miss Joy wearing her thick eyeglasses. I miss the irregulars - including me. I miss the slim girls like Aiko, Ykha and Nina. I miss the president, Shane. I miss them all! I hope we weren’t reshuffled to other sections. I miss being with them. Simply because, they are unique.

Is it possible to have good government in a world of selfishness, cheating and lies?

These days, political elections are dangerous business! Besides dividing people, family and friends along party lives, as is often the case in the West, politics in some countries brings persecution, violence and even genocide.

Regardless of where one lives, leaders generally seem far more interested in acquiring or maintaining power and prestige than in serving people and meeting the true needs of the people who elect them! It is so sad. The question is: Will it get any better?

Ideally, the purpose of government is to maintain security and public order to provide fulfillment and happiness. Those outcomes sound great, but how many governments in the world are able to reach these lofty goals? Basic security and a semblance of order are provided in some countries, but fulfillment and happiness are rarely, if ever, the result of today’s government.

While most would be leaders recognize the need of some kind of “change” in their country, they can only make hollow promises to provide improvements and reforms if elected. Yet virtually all leaders fail to come through on their campaign promises! More seem to be interested in getting elected to power than in solving the real problems of their people and providing meaningful and service-oriented leadership.

Narcissistic

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?

She kept on batting her eyes and smiling at herself in the mirror. It’s been 90 minutes and she still hasn’t stood up from that chair of hers, looking at her reflection.

Think of the picturesque girl in the classroom who just absolutely loves taking pictures of her own self during math class. Surely she’s pretty, but she’s also extremely self-absorbed, intolerant of others’ perspectives and insensitive to other people’s needs. Narcissistic individuals, or most commonly dubbed as “narci”, are characterized predominantly by grandiosity, a need for admiration and a lack of empathy. It usually occurs in a variety of severity, but the pathologic narcissist is arrogant, self-centered and indifferent to the effect of their own egocentric behavior. Oh yes she’s pretty — a pretty ugly personality.

Early December 2008, SPCians were introduced to one of the Student Body Government’s projects. The Happy Feet Festival is part of the community extension service of the institution. It was pioneered by the student officers to encourage students in giving something to the less fortunate brothers.

HAPPY FEET. From the name itself, Happy Feet means making ones feet happy. The said plan was launched last December 12, 2008. Galleries and coin banks were distributed to give information as well as donations for the success of the project. Also, SPC studentry could donate old yet useful pair of slippers.

Although there was some elusiveness in presenting it to the SPC populace, the project aimed to benefit 307 pupils from the different elementary schools. This will be done by giving them slippers in replacements to the worn-out ones.

my mind wanders off
icon1 yeyen05 | icon2 Uncategorized | icon4 01 28th, 2009| icon3No Comments »

It’s cold Friday night. I’ve got a lot of things to do and think about: homeworks, lab experiment write-ups, reports, etc., just the typical stuff a medtech student will have. And yet, I keep on wondering why I am even bothering to write this. Maybe because I am in an artistic mood and this is my canvas.

PEACE

When you talk about peace, my mind drifts into the Quantum of Solace. As of the time of this writing, I haven’t had the time to waste to watch the flick. But of course, I’ve read about the plot being 007’s revenge for the death of the love of his life. Solace, according to microsoft word’s thesaurus is synonymous with comfort, consolation, support, relief and succor. But where’s the solace in a film that begins with and revolves around murder? This seeming contradiction may get those anti-007 people excited. But the funny thing is, the conundrum besets our world as well. From the international, to the domestic, to local… we have problems and issues to deal with. From the moment we wake up to the time we sleep, problems are what we deal with. Why? Maybe the world id so bleak after all… or maybe because it is inherent in man?

After all, it is man’s nature to be inquisitive…we seek for answers by raising new questions. Our curiosity have pummeled us from space to the infinitesimals comprising us. Even the hit business of spas and resorts to unwind is simply a myth. There is no way to rid ourselves of our problems. It is part of man’s nature to solve problems and to find new ones to solve. Relaxation is not being free of problems. It is simply postponing the eventual face-off. I guess that it is okay to put down the burden from time to time. But never be swallowed by your disillisionment and intentionally forget to pick them up again. In the end, these problems would become more menacing when they haunt you.

I guess that is all for now. Actually, my mind wanders off to a lot of things. But I guess that I would just spare you the agony of my circular thinking. Hopefully, you could get some insights on this…please! Even just an itsy-bitsy one!… hahahha…just kidding.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit. -Aristotle

P.S. I only made a craniousus neonatorum. SO, if you were able to trace its pathophysiology, well: whatever.

I got used to wear my coat everyday especially last week. I am used to see the dark clouds and touched by the small drops of rain.

Today, I feel so irritated by the intense light rays of the sun. I couldn’t open my eyes normally. I hate to stay at the corridors because of the reflections of light to the cars and glass windows. It is such a sunny Tuesday!

bonding with 2B

Two hours from now, I and my classmates will be leaving our places, going to our Christmas party. This is my first and last (I think) that I will be joining with their hang outs. I’m not that excited to be there, but I just want to be part of their enjoyment. It’s better to be with them seeing their big smiles rather than staying alone at home and sleep all day. Sometimes, I wanna be with them always because it makes me feel younger than my age. Though, most of them got used to call me “Ate Hannah,” it’s fine…I feel like a matured thinker.. [ooowwww..hehehe :-)]

Our party will be held at WaterWorld Resort. At first, I feel like not going because that place is known to be many kids died because of accidents in pool. But it might be unfair to the one I’ve picked for exchange gift because she can’t have her gift. So, I decided to go not only because of her but also I wanna share my ideas for fun games to them.

Oh..

I still need to buy for a gift wrapper and the materials for the games I prepared. Got to go…

I hope, tonight everyone will be enjoyed at the party.

:-)

Merry Christmas to all!
